MEET THE CASTRO FAMILY

Meet The Castro Family

As the parents of two young boys, we wanted to create something that was fun while developing confidence and strength in kids.  Fit Kids will focus on team work and creating a place where each child feels a sense of belonging.

Motivation & Inspirations

The goal of this program is to provide a physical activity program that provides a solid foundation for not only sports but a lifetime of exercise. This program will provide an opportunity for all children to learn their innate physical abilities.

  • Develop generalized motor programs on an individual basis
  • Introduce concepts of physical literacy

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

A typical session in this program will consist of four foundational components.

 Instructional Moments

  • Short periods of time where participants will develop an understanding of the importance of consistency, focus, intensity, and much more.  Blocked periods of time will be short, with additional moments at the discretion of the instructor.


Basic Locomotion

  • Blocked practice of basic movement (running, crawling, jumping, throwing, etc) with very little feedback


Skill Development Games

  •  Evidence from research indicates that retention and transfer of motor skills is positively influenced by increased contextual interference.  One study found that tag-based games were more effective than other methods in the development of running speed and change of direction ability.


Advanced Skill Development

  • Progression to more difficult skills will occur at the discretion of the instructor, and may occur on an individual basis.  Bodyweight movements, Track & Field style events, and weightlifting skills will be practiced with emphasis on context, proper technique and safety.
